The Future of Mediation Looks Bright

This past weekend I had the honor of teaching at the NJ Association of Professional Mediator’s 40-hour divorce mediation class here in New Jersey and from what I saw, the future of mediation looks bright. Mediation has been in vogue as of late and with a number of individuals entering the profession claiming to be mediators, it was nice to see a group committed to learning the true meaning of mediation and acquiring the necessary skills in order to be an effective mediator. By doing so, in my humble opinion, the bar gets raised on all of those practicing mediation and hopefully encourages other New Jersey mediators to further hone and improve their skills through continuing education, case study and staying abreast of changes in the law as I do.

I make it no secret: I look forward to the day where litigation isn’t even an option for divorcing couples in New Jersey. So while we do have a ways to go, after seeing what I saw this weekend, the future of mediation looks bright!
