Parenting Plans, Divorce Mediation NJ and Summer
When it comes to Parenting Plans, Divorce Mediation NJ and summer, it’s important to consider the impact the lack of a structured school-year on you, your soon to be ex-spouse and your children. Before it was hard enough to keep them busy all summer or remember to make that camp reservation the previous November but now given that you will each be on your own to manage their unstructured time once your are divorced and quite possibly both of you will be working full-time, thinking through the parenting plan upfront will at least resolve the fear of the unknown going forward.
Some of my clients think I’m being a pain when I push them to come up with an alternative parenting plan for the summer when all they want to do is say “let the regular parenting plan stay in effect” but I know from experience that the lack of structure that summer brings can wreck havoc on the school-year parenting plan so it’s important to think it through.
Trust me – you’ll be glad you did.
