New Jersey Divorce Mediators Aren’t All The Same
One of the challenges New Jersey Divorce Mediators have is providing referrals to clients inquiring about our services. As divorce mediation in New Jersey is a confidential process, I can’t exactly be handing out the names and phone numbers of previous clients to folks who call the office asking for references! With that in mind, it’s a challenge to explain to someone on the phone that all New Jersey Divorce Mediators aren’t the same. So what do you look for when considering a number of New Jersey Divorce Mediators? In my opinion, there are five things:
1. Are the accredited by the New Jersey Association of Professional Mediators (NJAPM)?
2. How active are they in the divorce mediation community?
3. What type of educational background do they possess and more importantly what do they do to remain current in the field?
4. Is divorce mediation their full time profession?
5. Have they ever experienced divorce first hand?
While this list isn’t all inclusive, I do believe asking these questions of the New Jersey Divorce Mediators you’re considering working with will help you go a long way towards determining who the best mediator will be for your particular situation.
