With times being as tough as they are, some folks who call the offices are looking for information or advice on how to do their own divorce. And while as a divorce mediator I am not permitted to offer such information, I can tell you that a do-it-yourself divorce is a dangerous game. Like the old saying “you don’t know what you don’t know,” when it comes to a do-it-yourself divorce, there is no possible way a book of forms you got off the Internet for $399 is going to tell you everything you need to know. By working with a divorce mediator like myself, you can be sure that you will get the information you need to make informed decisions in your specific circumstances. I can tell you from experience that no two cases are exactly the same and so while you may wish to try and save money by doing it yourself, there is no template-like approach that can get you there.
