Divorce Mediation and Mental Health

There is no doubt that going through a divorce is as significant a trauma as the loss of a loved one so why are there grief counselors yet there aren’t divorce counselors? I guess when you think about it, there are mental health professionals in the form of social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, etc. yet most people don’t think to go to them while going through divorce mediation NJ. Why, I don’t know but whenever I mention it in session, I usually get blank stares or comments like “I’m fine.” Even if you’re using a more peaceful and less stressful process such as divorce mediation NJ, please don’t underestimate the impact it will have on you and your family. Much like my dad used to say about doing preventative maintenance on your car to make it last longer, speaking with a mental health professional can help you work through those feelings of hurt, anger and even fear as you face a future you probably never contemplated before today.

Please feel free to call me at (908) 864-2177 if you’d like the names of some people who can help.
